Aryana Sayeed, Afghanistan’s biggest female pop star escapes on US cargo jet
The singer, who also serves as a judge on the Afghan version of The Voice, was able to escape out of Kabul on a US cargo jet on Wednesday, after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan’s presidential palace a few days earlier.
Taking to her Instagram to update her 1.3 million followers about her whereabouts, Sayeed shared a picture with her husband Hasib Sayed. Sayed also later posted a Boomerang video of his wife taking a nap on the flight and writing a long caption explaining their escape from Afghanistan
One of the beloved names of Afghan pop music, she won the Afghan Icon Award in 2017 and was named “2017 Afghanistan’s Best Female Artist”.
