IVORY COAST FORMER PRESIDENT, EX-REBEL, REJECTED IN ELECTION BID – OFFICIAL.
ABIDJAN – Ivory Coast election authorities rejected appeals by former President Laurent Gbagbo and former rebel leader Guillaume Soro to be allowed to run in the country’s October election, today Monday, September 14, 2020.
According to the Constitutional Council,
Gbagbo and Soro had appealed to the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) against a decision, not to include them in electoral lists for the ballot.

4-Kouadio Konan Bertin
Apart from these candidacy files validated by the Constitutional Council, those of Laurent Gbagbo, Soro Guillaume, Mamadou Koulibaly, Albert Mabri Toikeusse, Gnamien Konan and Amon Tanoh Marcel were declared inadmissible by the Constitutional Council, as well as many other files.
Remember, out of 44 candidacy files received by the Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) and transferred to the Constitutional Council, 40 were rejected and 04 were deemed admissible.
The presidential election is scheduled for October 31st, 2020.
