Kanye West And Balenciaga Raise $1 Million For DMX Family After Releasing Tribute Shirt
Kanye West is showing his support for DMX’s family. A source tells ET that less than 24 hours after Kanye, 43, enlisted Balenciaga to team up with his Yeezy brand and produce a DMX tribute shirt, they raised $1 million for the late rapper’s family. The shirt has now sold out.
The legendary rapper’s Instagram page shared a picture of the custom t-shirt that went on sale online for $200 a pop.
According to reports, the shirts sold out in 24 hours. The shirt itself was commission by the Yeezy brand and designed by the luxury clothing company and was put up for sale on Saturday during X’s funeral
DMX fans hopped on the tribute site, made their purchases and the custom tees sold out in less than 24 hours, earning roughly $1 million, per TMZ.
As previously reported by REVOLT, Swizz sought out West’s participation in DMX’s memorial services. In addition to the designing the tribute shirts, the Chicago rapper and his Sunday Service choir showed up for X and performed beautiful melodies throughout the late emcee’s Celebration of Life service. West was also one of the event’s producers, and he was responsible for the stage setup inside of the Barclays Center, all of which Swizz expressed his gratitude for during the event
But, the shirt sold out quickly, allowing for sales to reach a staggering $ 1 million.
DMX died on April 9, days after he was rushed to the hospital following a heart attack. He was 50.
