It’s official, former Ivorian president, Laurent Gbagbo will run for the post of president.

The candidacy of President Gbagbo Laurent was submitted today, August 31st , 2020 to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) by the president of EDS and FPI officials,despite the absence of his name on the electoral list because he was sentenced to 20 years in absentia for the robbery of the BCEAO headquarters.

“In the name of, Ensemble pour la democratie et la sovereignty (EDS), we have just submitted the candidacy file of our political referent, President Laurent Gbagbo, the father of democracy in Côte d’Ivoire whom we have asked to be our candidate for the presidential election of October 2020. Although his name has been struck off the electoral list by maneuvers that we consider legal and political. The act that we have taken today reflects our desire to rebel with force, the exclusion for fear of our candidate from the electoral competitions to be varnished. The Constitutional Council will have the heavy responsibility before the Ivorian people and before history ,to pronounce on the validity and the conformity of this decision of delisting with regards to the constitution of our country.

The act we have taken today reflects our manifest desire to participate in all these elections with a consensual and credible electoral body taking into consideration the Court of Arrest and the people on July 15th, 2020.

A consensual electoral code for fair, transparent, regular and inclusive free elections pledge of a democratic and peaceful alternation as well as for the electoral list which precipitated fraud during the last revision of July 2020.

 

We are calling for an international audit.
Finally, the act we have taken today is part of the framework of reconciliation for a true peace, not Peace through arms, repression, terror and intimidation, but peace of hearts and minds. minds in which, like President Laurent Gbagbo, our referent and candidate, the valiant Ivorian people yearn for deeply.

Yes, these elections must take place in a peaceful environment which requires the release of all political and military prisoners, the return to the land of their ancestor, the return of all political exiles led by our referent and candidate, Laurent Gbagbo.
