The gala was Harry and Meghan’s first black tie event since moving to California in March 2020 and was their second time in New York as a couple. For Harry who said being in the capital city felt “great”-his list of experiences in the U.S. continues to grow. “Just last week, I went for a ride on the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile,” he laughed during his speech, “How’s that for living the American dream!”

“I served 10-years in the military, including two tours of duty in Afghanistan-one as an FAC on the ground and in the dust with some of you, another as an Apache helicopter pilot in the air supporting and talking with you,” Harry said, addressing the hundreds of (vaccinated) guests who had gathered at the fundraising event. “My experience in the military made me who I am today, and I will always be grateful for the people I got to serve with wherever in the world we were.”
