Prince Harry and Prince William left their grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral together.
The brothers were seen chatting alongside William’s wife Kate Middleton as they exited St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle following the funeral service on Saturday. William, 38, and Harry, 36, continued speaking as they walked away from the church, as Kate stepped away to talk with Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
It is often said that funerals are moments of reconciliation
Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, was unable to join the family engagement as she is pregnant with the couple’s second child and was advised not to travel from California to the UK at this time.
Prince Harry’s appearance at today’s service marks the first time he has returned to the U.K. since he and Duchess Meghan stepped down from senior working royal duties last year. In the months after their exit, the couple had relocated to Montecito, California with their young son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor. They’re also working to build their new nonprofit organization, Archewell.
The reunion between the two brothers and the Duchess of Cambrdige also follows Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s sit-down with media mogul, Oprah Winfrey, where they expressed their personal frustrations with the royal institution and their experience as a couple within it.
