According to president Edgar Lungu of Zambia, the late President Kenneth Kaunda, who led the fight to free the country from British rule, will be held on July the 2nd.
He took to his official page to post the following message
As we continue to mourn our beloved founding father of the nation, Dr Kenneth David Kaunda, my government, in consultation with the Kaunda family, has come up with a programme to give him a befitting send-off.
I must emphasize that the programme will be done in strict adherence to all Covid-19 rules as guided by the Ministry of Health.
It is the wish of the Kaunda family that his remains be taken to all the 10 provinces in order to accord citizens chance to bid farewell to their beloved KK.
The provincial visits, which will start on Wednesday, June 23, will end on July 5.
A state funeral will be held on July 2, which will allow for the participation of international dignitaries.
Finally, our founding president will be laid to rest at the Presidential Burial Site in Lusaka on July 7.
I urge all citizens to cooperate with authorities as we carry out the funeral programme.
