The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced they are expecting their second child, just a few days after Princess Eugenie gave birth to a baby boy, a spokesperson said in a statement to BuzzFeed News.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child.”
The couple made their announcement on Valentine’s Day with a touching new photo by longtime friend, photographer Misan Harriman, who posted the image to her Twitter account Sunday.
“Meg, I was there at your wedding to witness this love story begin, and my friend, I am honored to capture it grow,” Harriman wrote.
The new royal baby will join older brother Archie, who turns two in May.
Even though Harry and Meghan have “stepped back” as working members of the royal family, their second child will still be 8th in line for the throne, since the Queen didn’t change the line of succession.
Meghan’s pregnancy announcement was made nearly three months after she published a devastating op-ed in the New York Times revealing that she miscarried a child in July.
The Sussex family has been living in California near Meghan’s hometown of Los Angeles, where her mother resides, since March. Harry and Meghan have spent the past year laying the groundwork for their post-royal lives.
