It was a TABOO mentioning Bamenda or our one and only “TOGHU” without being insulted when we were growing up.
Today these North West women in showbiz have taken the love for their culture to another level, thus making “Toghu Bamenda, African Print” the most worn dresses on the red carpet.
The word Toghu or Atoghu as sometimes called by people refers to the traditional regalia of the northwest region of Cameroon. Before now the toghu outfit was not so popular among the commoners because it was mostly worn by royals and considered as an outfit meant for royalty
“Toghu” fabric is one of Cameroon’s most popular prints and it is because of the beautiful texture of the fabric and it rich feel on the skin.Modern-day toghu outfits are made using a variety of fabrics other than the velvet and are available in so many designs
