Tuyishime Joshua, better known to his fans as Jay Polly, dies at 33
Rwandan Rapper Joshua Tuyishime, better known by his stage name Jay Polly, has died aged 33.
He passed on at Muhima Hospital where he was taken for medical attention
and was admitted Wednesday night.
Jay Polly is considered as one of the best hip hop artists of his generation. He is also one of the only two rappers who won Primus Guma Guma SuperStar competition.
Joshua, better known to his fans as Jay Polly, is a hip-hop artist from Kigali, Rwanda. He was born in Gikondo, Kigali in June 1988. He is the second born in a family of three children. He attended Kinunga Primary and ESK Kicukiro secondary schools. His music career began in 2003 in school with his friend Green P. In 2004, he and other artists, Green P included, founded a music group called G5. They started writing songs and shortly began recording at TFP Studio.
The 33-year-old was taken to Muhima hospital in the capital Kigali at around 3:00 am (0100 GMT), its director Pascal Nkubito told AFP.
“He was in a bad shape and unresponsive. Doctors tried to revive him but he unfortunately died shortly after,” he said.
“The cause of death is not something I want to speculate about. We will know that after the post-mortem.”
